RACE 4 (R337) Class 5 1600M (lc)
This race was rescheduled to start at 3:15pm.
The Stewards permitted Jockey S Sani to replace Jockey KT Cheng on SMILING
MELANG.
EASTERN WIN was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon at the request of Jockey I
Azhar at the barriers and was passed fit to race.
The start was delayed as BANCHORY (M Leong) reared up badly in its stall and
dislodged its rider. The gelding will be required to pass a test (starting stall) before being
entered to race again.
DANCING GREY (A Kumar) jumped awkwardly outwards.
SERDANG MAN (TM Wan) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped I NEED YOU SO
(MW Teh).
BANCHORY (M Leong) and ETERNAL CHEERS (J Chuah) bumped shortly after the
start. BANCHORY lost ground in this incident.
Shortly after the start, EASTERN WIN (I Azhar) checked when crowded for room
between DANCING GREY which rolled outwards and I NEED YOU SO which was
taken inwards by SERDANG MAN which laid inwards, obliging its rider to stop and
straighten. Thereafter SERDANG MAN continued to lay inwards approaching the first
turn.
DANCING GREY raced keenly and was difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.
BANCHORY and JERAM LIONCITY (SH Lee) both raced wide on the first turn.
Near the 800M, EASTERN WIN checked when crowded for room between
INCREDIBLE GENERAL (HK Cheng) which rolled outwards and ETERNAL CHEERS
which rolled inwards.
Near the 300M, ETERNAL CHEERS (J Chuah) laid inwards, obliging its rider to stop
and straighten.
Jockey A Kumar, the rider of DANCING GREY, reported that his horse was not striding
out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of DANCING GREY revealed no obvious
abnormality. The gelding which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet)
before being entered to race again.
Jockey K Eirwan, the rider of SHARK HUNTER, reported that his horse was not striding
out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SHARK HUNTER revealed no obvious
abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of I NEED YOU SO and SERDANG MAN revealed
no obvious abnormality. SERDANG MAN which raced poorly, will be required to pass a
test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again.
When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of ETERNAL CHEERS
as compared to its last start on 26th February 2012 in Ipoh when the gelding finished 19th ,
beaten 12 lengths over the 1100M, Trainer Peter Lee advised the Stewards that there was
no suitable races for ETERNAL CHEERS and as such he elected to run the gelding over
the 1100M last start. Trainer Peter Lee further stated that he expected ETERNAL
CHEERS to improve over a longer journey today and on the wet track which the horse
prefers as indicated when it won over the 1600M on a wet track on 1st January 2012 in
Ipoh. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the Rules regarding in
and out running.
