RACE 5 [TF108]
CLASS 5 POLYTRACK 1000M
DIVISION 2
WHIRLRUNNER (I Saifudin) was restless in the barrier, taken out, examined
by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. Trainer J OHara
was advised that a warning has been placed on WHIRLRUNNER regarding its
barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in
future.
Shortly after the start, SIR EXCELLENCE (App JL Li) was bumped heavily on
two occasions by SILVER LEGEND (B Vorster), which was taken inwards by
KYLENE (D Beasley), which in turn was taken inwards by FLEET FOOT (App
TH Koh). This resulted in the rider of SIR EXCELLENCE becoming badly
unbalanced and losing the use of his off-side stirrup iron placing him at a
distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
Passing the 900m, WONDER GENERAL (M Zaki) steadied when momentarily
crowded between CHIEF FIRE THUNDER (S Sam) and WHYDOYOUASK (Alan
Ng), which was taken outwards slightly by WHIRLRUNNER.
MR COOL MAN (I Santana) and KYLENE both raced wide without cover
throughout.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on WHYDOYOUASK
which revealed no apparent abnormality.
Jockey S John, when questioned regarding the performance of THATS CASH,
stated that the gelding, after beginning well, did not travel at any stage and
after making the turn into the straight, he became concerned when THATS
CASH was making respiratory noises. His explanation was noted. THATS
CASH was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The
Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse returned with a laceration on its
near-hind.
