Korea: Busan Racecourse – Friday November 20, 2015

Race 4: Class 4 / 1200M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 12:25 (SIN)

It’s hard to look too far past (8) SMILE QUEEN in our opener. She stepped up in class last start and won by a neck over 1000M having made all the previous time at this distance. She looks nicely in to make it three in a row. The main danger is (6) BUGYEONG CHAMP who shows promise and should be improving on his best finish so far of 4th. (7) SPRING BOLT was one of those behind Bugyeong Champ last time and this race offers an opportunity for her to return to the money. The others are going to need to find something but we’ll give (2) CHEONMA CHUPUNGO another chance.

Selections: (8) Smile Queen (6) Bugyeong Champ (7) Spring Bolt (2) Cheonma Chupungo

Race 5: Class 4 / 1200M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 13:15 (SIN)

(5) BAEKDU was 3rd in a quick race over a muddy track just twelve days ago and is sent straight back out here with solid claims. It is quite a competitive race though with (7) MABEE FLASHY still well in after getting his maiden win at the fifteenth time of asking three weeks ago. Yet to win is (6) QUEEN’S MYEONGUN but she has come close in both her two most recent starts and should go well again. The sole debut-maker in the field, (8) TARIAT TALE was good in his trial and should be considered here while the only Korean bred runner in the field, (4) YEONSEUNG JILJU may also be considered. He got back to back wins at domestic classes 6 and 5 but did struggle a little against similar opposition to this last time out.

Selections: (5) Baekdu (8) Tariat Tale (7) Mabee Flashy (6) Queen’s Myeongun

Race 6: Class 5 / 1200M / Handicap / KRW 40 Million / 14:05 (SIN)

(7) MY ALICE was an eleven length winner on her debut over this distance last month. She is up in class here and it will be tougher but she will look to lead from the gate and has every chance of repeating. Also up in class and with plenty of potential is (4) GASOK ENGINE. It took him two goes to get his maiden win which he did over 1000M a month ago and he is another who will go forward early and must be considered. At this stage there looks to be little between those two but they do look superior to the rest. (1) YAKSOKUI SIGAN comes in following a 2nd place last time out behind a very promising two-year-old and may go close while (2) SANGSEUNG MULGYEOL is another with no wins from plenty but can be competitive. (3) MYSTIC PARK laid out on the turn last time but can go better here.

Selections: (7) My Alice (4) Gasok Engine (1) Yaksokui Sigan (2) Sangseung Mulgyeol

Race 7: Class 5 / 1000M / Handicap / KRW 40 Million / 14:55 (SIN)

We will have a clear favourite in this race and that’s (1) BYEOLMURI. She was a twelve-length winner over this distance on what was her third start last month and she should have little trouble seeing off this field. Taking on favourites has not necessarily been a bad idea of late though and for those who wish to have a go here, (7) BIHO JILJU beat three of these when running 2nd over this distance on October 30th and therefore looks to have the best chance. (3) LADY CHARTERED, (4) LOVE QUEEN and (9) MACH CHAMP are others who may be considered. (2) MAHURU is the wildcard. He ran once – and won – over a year ago before getting injured. He wasn’t wholly impressive in his trial at the end of last month though.

Selections: (1) Byeolmuri (7) Biho Jilju (3) Lady Chartered (9) Mach Champ

Race 8: Class 4 / 1600M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 15:45 (SIN)

(3) HOT COMMEND was 3rd in what was an admittedly pedestrian race over class and distance three weeks ago and has every chance of going better here. Five of these raced each other on October 9th with (7) DAMYANG CHEONSA coming out on top in fourth. She was a little disappointing when sent back out two weeks ago but was a winner at this distance in September and may go close. In that very same September race, (5) WINNING NUMBER was 3rd. He is up in class following a 2nd place two weeks ago and should be looking to place again. (9) HAPPY SOUND beat both of those when winning at this distance on September 4th and must be considered with (1) YEOKJEONUI YONGSA and (8) HWARYEOHANHAMSEONG also having claims in an open race.

Selections: (3) Hot Commend (9) Happy Sound (7) Damyang Cheonsa (5) Winning Number

Race 9: Class 3 / 1800M / Handicap / KRW 70 Million / 16:10 (SIN)

(7) MY BLADE has let punters down at odds-on on both of his last two starts but has had excuses both times and can be backed once again. He may not start the favourite though. (6) CHEONJI PARK looked well when returning from a five month absence in September and tries two turns for the first time following another couple of months away. He is the most talented in this field and if well, should win. (2) MR. KELLY finds himself up in class following a really good win three weeks ago but may find his level here while (5) HANBANDO JEONGBOK was 4th at class and distance last time out and should be looking to match or better that. (1) YEONGGWANGUITAEPUN was 4th in the first leg of the Korean Triple Crown earlier this year but was an also-ran in the Derby and has struggled to fulfil his early promise.

Selections: (6) Cheonji Park (7) My Blade (2) Mr. Kelly (1) Yeonggwanguitaepun

Race 10: Class 3 / 1800M / Handicap / KRW 70 Million / 16:35 (SIN)

(6) SINHAN JEIL beat three of his rivals here when running 2nd over class and distance on October 9th and he will be well-backed to go one better here. (1) ANY GIVEN ACT was just a nose behind that day and can be close by once more although he was beaten by (9) SAEROUN BEOPCHIK on his reappearance three weeks ago and it is the latter who has slightly stronger claims today. However, the main danger may come from (3) DONGBANG DAERO. He is yet to win in six career starts but is up in class today following his third 2nd place finish on October 23rd and the extra furlong may be what he needs to make the breakthrough. (5) SEMPER FI didn’t impress on his previous start at this distance but can be given another chance following some decent performances at 1400M and a mile.

Selections: (6) Sinhan Jeil (3) Dongbang Daero (9) Saeroun Beopchik (1) Any Given Act

Race 11: Class 2 / 1400M / Handicap / KRW 85 Million / 17:00 (SIN)

It has taken him a while but (3) MUST WIN seems to have finally realised what his name means and comes in here off the back of two consecutive wins. The most recent of those was over 1200M on October 16th when he beat a couple of these and both of those, (2) PUREUN ACE and (12) BAEDARI DAEBU look to be among the main dangers here. And there are plenty of dangers in a really competitive event. (4) POWERFUL NAMHAE gets dropped back to this distance for the first time this year and can go well while (9) SPECIAL LINE, a winner at class 3 over 1800M in September, should also go close.

Selections: (2) Pureun Ace (3) Must Win (9) Special Line (4) Powerful Namhae
