Korea: Busan Racecourse – Friday November 13, 2015

Race 4: Class 6 / 1300M / Allowance / KRW 25 Million / 12:25 (SIN)

Nine runners look for their maiden victory in our opener and a couple of up-and-comers look to have wins in them at some point. From Busan’s top stable (6) IN THE BACK has shown promise in his last couple of starts and will be backed to go one better than his 2nd last time under Italian jockey Pasquale Borelli. (7) HAENGUNUIYEOLSOE also looks the improving sort; he’s raced three times and was 3rd on his last start a month ago, beating (1) IGGIPPEUM GEUDAERO, who will most likely be close again too. (4) FOREST TAEYANG has beaten a number of these in his most recent two starts, one of them being (9) FOR MY DREAM, who looks the most likely of the rest.

Selections: (6) In The Back (7) Haengunuiyeolsoe (4) Forest Taeyang (9) For My Dream

Race 5: Class 4 / 1200M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 13:15 (SIN)

(3) SHARP AMERICAN finished strongly for 2nd place in a decent race over this distance on October 4th, building on a 3rd the time before that and he looks ready to win. It won’t be easy in this full field though. (11) KWAESEOK BARAM, who had eleven months between his first and second starts, is quick but is tried at 1200M for the first time having not quite managed to stay on after leading in both his two starts this year at the minimum distance. (10) SECRET LINE comes in having been 3rd at this distance on October 16th and must be considered. (13) ACE DREAM and (14) SINSEGYE SINHWA are both proven winners who can be forgiven their most recent starts. There are four debut-makers and (1) RISING CHAMP looks the most immediately promising, having won his trial comfortably last month.

Selections: (3) Sharp American (14) Sinsegye Sinhwa (1) Rising Champ (11) Kwaeseok Baram

Race 6: Class 5 / 1400M / Handicap / KRW 40 Million / 14:05 (SIN)

(8) V MAN was a good 4th on his first try at class and distance last month and can improve on that here. (2) YOUARE THE CAPTAIN and (5) SOLRASDISO are both up in class following maiden victories last month and while both will need to find improvement here, the former looks the more likely. (4) COOL RUN beat three of these last time over 1300M and needs to be respected while (1) BARAMUI JILJU was 2nd at this distance in a reasonably swift time om October 16th when sent off at long odds and will be much shorter today. Looking more dangerous though is (3) STEALTH, who only managed 6th place in Busan’s top juvenile race last month but should be much more comfortable here.

Selections: (8) V Man (3) Stealth (1) Baramui Jilju (2) Youare The Captain

Race 7: Class 2 / 1000M / Handicap / KRW 85 Million / 14:55 (SIN)

(3) SUPREME MAGIC a couple of his rivals here when winning over class and distance on October 9th and looks very nicely in to repeat the trick today. (2) YUSEONG FIGHTING was sent off at odds-on for that race but could only manage 3rd. He can be given another chance here though. However, it is one who didn’t go in that race, (1) MYEONGWON LION, who may be the biggest danger. He is up in class today following a very quick win over this distance a month ago and has every chance here. The other one to consider for the money in this small field is (7) ACE CHEONBOK.

Selections: (3) Supreme Magic (1) Myeongwon Lion (2) Yuseong Fighting (7) Ace Cheonbok

Race 8: Class 5 / 1200M / Handicap / KRW 40 Million / 15:45 (SIN)

(8) MAKGANG JILJU is up in class following a maiden win over 1200M last month. The filly she beat into 2nd that day has gone on to score impressively herself and with nothing much to fear here, Makoto Okabe can ride his first Korean winner. There are a couple of dangers. (4) BAUDEOGI was a good winner over 1300M at the start of October but found it harder at 1400M on her first try at this class earlier this month. Being back at this distance may be to her advantage. (1) CHEONHA KWAEGEOL and (5) SONATA ZONE are others who are capable at this class although they will need to find improvement to win. (6) SUPER POWER is up in class following three 3rd place finishes at class 6 and she too will need to find something.

Selections: (8) Makgang Jilju (4) Baudeogi (1) Cheonha Kwaegeol (6) Super Power

Race 9: Class 3 / 1200M / Handicap / KRW 70 Million / 16:10 (SIN)

(4) DORAONPOGYEONGSEON caught the eye (not to mention the tongue) when scoring a four-length win on his second career start on October 16th. That puts him up in class today but he looks to have good potential and he can win again. Also up in class is (9) GOOD SPIRIT. He made all to win by three lengths on his debut last month and while he us up in distance too here, he can go well. Joining him in being promoted today is the horse he beat by three lengths that day, (5) COWBOY CAPTAIN. He is a winner too, over 1000M and can go well. (6) SAND KING and (3) JILJU HWASIN are others with claims.

Selections: (4) Doraonpogyeongseon (9) Good Spirit (5) Cowboy Captain (6) Sand King

Race 10: Class 4 / 1400M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 16:35 (SIN)

(8) SAMSONNEEUNENERGY has landed consecutive wins over a mile and looks shrewdly entered here against imported horses which should give him a very good chance of completing a hat-trick. (2) PAMPAS FARM has finished 2nd on both his two starts to date and may well do so again while (9) ARION METAL put in an encouraging 4th on is debut last month and can improve here. (3) CHEONHA ULLIM and (4) CROCODILE JUSTICE are others to be considered.

Selections: (8) Samsonneeunenergy (2) Pampas Farm (9) Arion Metal (3) Cheonha Ullim

Race 11: Class 3 / 1200M / Handicap / KRW 70 Million / 17:00 (SIN)

(4) JINGGEOMDARI was 3rd on his first try at class 3 last start over 1400M and back at 1200M today, could be too quick here. There are others with claims too. The experienced (8) QUEEN FASLI is up in class following her second career victory last month while (9) CHOEGANG BULPAE has looked sharp – and quick - since returning from three months off in September. Both his runs since then have been at 1000M but he will look to lead here and can go well. The modestly named (2) VERY VERY GOOD did not find things easy on his first try at this class last month but can be given another chance here. The wildcard is (6) NAMDOUI YEOWANG. She returns to racing for the first time since January but looked in good shape when strolling through a trial last month.

Selections: (4) Jinggeomdari (9) Choegang Bulpae (6) Namdoui Yeowang (2) Very Very Good

Korea: Seoul Racecourse – Saturday November 14, 2015

Race 4: Class 6 / 1300M / Allowance / KRW 25 Million / 12:00 (SIN)

(8) JAJINARI was 2nd over 1200M on October 17, beating a couple of these in the process and looks nicely in to get his maiden win today. While well beaten by a good winner that day, Jajinari was a full two lengths ahead of (11) SHSHAPANGMA, who was recording a career-best 3rd place and will look to improve on that today. (5) GWACHEON QUEEN and (9) NONGBON SEUNGNI both enter in reasonable form, the latter just beaten a nose by (13) POWERFUL JEONGSANG last start. All should be in contention today but Jajinari is the clear favourite.

Selections: (8) Jajinari (11) Shishapangma (9) Nongbon Seungno (13) Powerful Jeongsang

Race 5: Class 4 / 1400M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 12:50 (SIN)

Not exactly a field of world-beaters here although that makes it quite an interesting betting race. (2) DAEIL SINHWA looked smart enough with a 4th place finish on his debut. He hasn’t been since July but should be none the worse for that. (7) CROWN ME BOSS was even more impressive on debut in August, winning over 1000M. She has run since but struggled over 1200M on October 11th. In this company, she can be given another chance today. (10) ALL KILL isn’t the most elegantly named horse around but he is quick and should be looking at least for a place. (4) ROYAL FAVOR and (12) FIX TIME are others to consider for improvement.

Selections: (7) Crown Me Boss (2) Daeil Sinhwa (12) Fix Time (10) All Kill

Race 6: Class 5 / 1200M / Handicap / KRW 40 Million / 13:40 (SIN)

(8) BULKKOCHWANGJA is yet to win in twelve career starts but has been coming close of late with a 2nd and a 3rd in his last two starts and he will be favourite to make the breakthrough here. The main danger could be (4) SIDAEUIYEOWANG. The 2-year-old filly is up in class after a five-length win on debut over 1000M last month. She will need to improve here but certainly looks promising. (2) AEGIS YOSAE was a creditable 3rd on his first try at this class on October 11th, following a win at this distance in August and can be considered. (1) MCKENZIE GIRL, (5) EOMJI GANGHO and the up in class (11) HAENGBOKANDONGHAEN may also go well.

Selections: (4) Sidaeuiyeowang (8) Bulkkochwangja (2) Aegis Yosae (11) Haengbokandonghaen

Race 7: Class Open / 1400M / Weight for Age / KRW 150 Million / 14:10 (SIN)

Big prize fund here for this race which is restricted to horses with a Korean rating of 80 or less and nice and competitive it is too. (8) DONGCHONUI ACHIM beat (10) DOUBLE DRAGON over this distance in September although the latter went on to score over 1800M last month and looks to have more to come. (12) HOSE KING won three consecutive races between March and July but has only raced twice since then. He is though very quick and must be strongly considered. (11) CITY HUNTER beat (3) ACE DOUBLE and (6) NOW NOW NOW in a quick race over this distance at the end of August and has the strongest claims of those three again today while (9) JEWELRY PARTY gets dropped back in distance following a couple of tries over 1700M and will be dangerous.

Selections: (10) Double Dragon (12) Hose King (8) Dongchonui Achim (11) City Hunter

Race 8: Class 5 / 1400M / Handicap / KRW 40 Million / 14:40 (SIN)

(8) LOVELY CAILYN was a class 6 winner over 1400M in September and was then 4th on her first try at class 5 over the same distance last month, beating a couple of these in the process and she must be strongly considered here. (11) COLORS DALE is yet to win but has finished 2nd on four of his eight outings to date. He may very well have to settle for 2nd again. (2) SHINING TRY comes into contention following a good (albeit well-beaten) 3rd three weeks ago with (7) SAMJEONG FIGHTER and (10) K RUSH the others to look out for.

Selections: (8) Lovely Cailyn (11) Colors Dale (7) Samjeong Fighter (2) Shining Try

Race 9: Class 5 / 1300M / Handicap / KRW 40 Million / 15:05 (SIN)

Plenty of these come into the race as winners on their last start but it is one of those who doesn’t, (12) MYEONGSEONGJEGUK, who has come close in two tries at class 5 so far, who just gets the nod. (1) SUPER BROAD was a solid winner on her return from seven months out last month while (9) NEW VICTORY was a battling winner in a tight 1200M race last start and can go well again. (13) JANGBI CHEONBOK is up in class following his maiden win at the tenth attempt while (4) SSONSALGACHI and (2) RISING FUTURE are the others to take into account in a really competitive event.

Selections: (12) Myeongseongjeguk (1) Super Broad (4) Ssonsalgachi (9) New Victory

Race 10: Class 4 / 1800M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 15:30 (SIN)

This one looks to be a straight fight between (4) INBEACTIVE and (7) COMPASS with the former having the slightly better record at two turns so far and she will be favoured here. Inbeactive is likely to go to the front straight out of the gate and try to remain there all the way around. There are other who could cause problems. (8) CYBER KING and (3) DANGCHAN ECTON ran 4th and 5th respectively in a race over 1800M last month and both will be expected to be involved in the business end of the race.

Selections: (4) Inbeactive (7) Compass (3) Dangchan Ecton (8) Cyber King

Race 11: Class 2 / 1700M / Handicap / KRW 90 Million / 16:00 (SIN)

A run of three consecutive victories this summer for (7) YAHO SUNSHINE culminated in a two-length triumph in the TJK Trophy at the end of August. Back in 4th that day was (8) COSMOS KING and it is these two who will head the betting today. While Yaho Sunshine was an also-ran in the President’s Cup last month, Cosmos King managed a 2nd place over 1800M and they look evenly matched today. If you don’t fancy either, (3) SUGAR VICTORY was a winner at 1800M in June at class 3 and has come close in three class 2 starts since while (12) TAESAN CHEONJI is up in class following a solid win at 1700M in September. (10) LAKSHMI can surprise on his day while (4) ALWAYS WINNER will be a dangerous outsider.

Selections: (8) Cosmos King (7) Yaho Sunshine (3) Sugar Victory (10) Lakshmi

Race 12: Class 1 / 1800M / Handicap / KRW 110 Million / 16:30 (SIN)

(2) HAEMARU was an also-ran in last month’s President’s Cup – Korea’s joint richest race – and he can return to form today in what is a nicely competitive Class 1 event. It won’t be easy though with plenty having solid claims. (3) DAEHAN JANGGUN was 4th in the KRA Cup Classic at the end of August before struggling a little over 2000M along with (11) BADA JILJU and (9) CHEONJEOK last month. All three of those should be happier at 1800M today and can be backed. (1) CHEONMANG is likely to go forward early to get what could be an uncontested lead and while he will be odds against to hold on all the way around, there is a chance. (10) DONGBANJAUI GIJEOK is always competitive as he showed with a really solid 2nd place over this distance last time.

Selections: (2) Haemaru (1) Cheonmang (3) Daehan Janggun (9) Cheonjeok

Race 13: Class 2 / 1400M / Handicap / KRW 90 Million / 17:00 (SIN)

We close with the smallest field of the day but at least five of the seven have serious claims. (3) CHASING DOLLARS is the marginal pick and he is up in class and down in distance following a strong win over 1800M last month. He is quick but others are too, principally (2) NAMSAN CHUKJE and (6) BEST GUY, the latter of whom was an impressive six-length winner over 1200M on October 18th. (1) GEOMTAN was a class and distance winner last month and needs respect while (5) WORLD JJANG is another who has put in some quick runs over this distance this year. (4) SPECIAL SKY and (7) NURI NARAE are the two with slightly less claims but they too on their day can go well.

Selections: (3) Chasing Dollars (6) Best Guy (1) Geomtan (2) Namsan Chukje
