Korea Race Comments – Friday February 27, 2015

Busan Race 4: Class 5 /1400M / Handicap / KRW 40 Million/ 12:25 (SIN)

(13) CHEONHA TONGIL is one of a number who comes in off the back of a victory and despite stepping up in class and distance has a chance to strike again. He won’t be the favorite though. (8) WIN GO MAN and (9) CHOEGANG FIGHTER both ran well at this class last time and have strong claims. (2) ART STAR was beaten in the closing stages over 1500M last time out and can compete again here while (1) HAPPY SOUND and (4) USEUNG CHOEGANG must be considered in this company. Champion jockey Jo Sung Gon opts for (6) HANGYE JILJU who is another up in class after getting his maiden win last month and has an outside chance.

Selections: (8) Win Go Man (2) Art Star (9) Choegang Fighter (13) Cheonha Tongil

Busan Race 5: Class 4 / 1300M /Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 13:15 (SIN)

The banker favorite of the day, (5) DAEPUNGNYEON has won his last two races by an aggregate margin of 25 lengths and while he takes on imported horses for the first time, he should be winning this too. (8) CLIMBING was a creditable 2nd behind Mac And Cheese at this level last month and can look to match that here. (9) GANGJA BONSAEK and (10) HOLY GANGTA have both shown promise but both will need to improve to compete here. (13) CHEONMA CHUPUNGO can improve on his one start to date. There is one debut-maker, (11) PANGPANG HERO and while his performance in his race-trial was only average, a first-timer from the Bart Rice stable can never be totally ruled out.

Selections: (5) Daepungnyeon (8) Climbing (9) Gangja Bonsaek (13) Cheonma Chupungo

Busan Race 6: Class 4 / 1600M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 14:05 (SIN)

(7) YUSEONG DREAM was a fine 4-length winner over 1300M on January 2 and can challenge. (1) CHEONJI HERO, a winner at this class over 1500M in January, will be at significantly shorter odds than he has been on recent starts. (4) CHEONHA ULLIM is one race into a comeback after a long lay-off and can show improvement while (2) ROYAL VICTOR is not without a chance against this field having faced stronger opposition on recent starts. (6) GANGSAN JEIL was a class and distance winner a month ago and has an outside chance of a repeat.

Selections: (7) Yuseong Dream (1) Cheonji Hero (6) Gangsan Jeil (4) Cheonha Ullim

Busan Race 7: Class 4 / 1400M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 14:55 (SIN)

(4) POKPUNG JEONCHA was a debut winner on January 30 but will need to show more improvement if he is to maintain his 100% record. (2) QUIET RAPTOR has been a little disappointing in three starts so far but should appreciate the extra distance today while (3) BULPAE LINE was beaten by a long-shot winner (Cheonji Hero, who ran in race 6) when sent off as favourite last time. He comes back after six weeks out and can be considered. (6) AFLEET CORREDOR and (10) TWO STEP SAMBA both showed improvement on their respective second starts in January and the former especially is favored to go well here. (7) MAERYEOK DEONGEORI and (1) SUPREME LEADER must also be looked at carefully.

Selections: (3) Bulpae Line (6) Afleet Corredor (7) Maeryeok Deongeori (4) Pokpung Jeoncha

Busan Race 8: Class 3 / 1800M / Handicap / KRW 70 Million / 15:45 (SIN)

(3) ROYAL IMPACT has been regularly picking up money at class 2, has plenty of experience at this kind of distance and looks well in to compete strongly here. (1) YEONGGWANGUITAEPUNG is tried around two-turns for the first time but should be more than capable of competing; he has only failed to bring home a prize on one of his seven starts to date. (8) CLEAN GANGJA finished just a length behind Royal Impact last time they raced over 2000M and should come into consideration as should (5) BULPAE DONGJA and (2) SPECIAL LINE.

Selections: (3) Royal Impact (1) Yeonggwanguitaepung (8) Clean Gangja (2) Special Line

Busan Race 9: Class 3 / 1600M / Handicap / KRW 70 Million / 16:10 (SIN)

(8) LUCKY GANGJA finished ahead of several of these when running 2nd over 1400M on January 30. The Peter Wolsley trainee is favoured to make it three wins from five starts today. He’ll have tough competition from (5) YEONGUNG CHAMP, who also steps up to a mile for the first time following consecutive wins. (13) LION METAL has three 2nd place finishes and a 3rd to show for four career starts so far. He can be strongly considered for another place as can (3) WONIL JIJON and (6) VIVA BLACK

Selections: (8) Lucky Gangja (5) Yeongung Champ (13) Lion Metal (6) Viva Black

Busan Race 10: Class 2 / 1400M / Handicap / KRW 85 Million / 16:35 (SIN)

(1) BINGGORAGIO will need to be forgiven a disappointing run last time when finishing 6th of 14 over 1500M. He can improve today and can get closer to (10) JUNGANGUI JANGSU, who was 2nd that day and also has claims here. (2) HOLY WALK comes in after three consecutive 3rd place finishes and can be backed to at least match that here while (7) TOP ADMIRAL suffered her first ever defeat last time out. She returns after almost three months out and can be considered. Others to look out for include (14) DOWON GYEOLUI and (12) BLAKE’S HUMOR, who landed a shock 3rd place last time, while (6) ACE CHEONBOK could provide value as an outsider.

Selections: (1) Bingorragio (7) Top Admiral (10) Jungangui Jangsu (6) Ace Cheonbok

Busan Race 11: Class 1 / 1600M / Handicap / KRW 105 Million / 17:00 (SIN)

(7) NEVER SEEN BEFORE makes his first appearance since winning the Minister’s Cup, the final leg of the Triple Crown series, at Seoul last October. He breezed through a barrier trial a couple of weeks ago and he and has strong claims. However, (9) USEUNG RADAR comes into the race after consecutive wins over this distance at class 2 and has every chance of making it three in a row on his first try at class 1. A big danger could be (8) DAMYANGUI JILJU who found things tough against a strong field over 1800M last month. (3) HWANGGEUMBITJIJUNG and (13) MYEONGUN JEWANG were in no way disgraced when finishing 2nd and 4th behind Hangangui Gijeok last month over this distance and both should be in contention for the money again. Like Useung Radar, (10) JUNGANG HAEJU races at class 1 for the first time and can be considered as should (1) CHOEGANG BYEONGGI.

Selections: (7) Never Seen Before (9) Useung Radar (8) Damyangui Jilju (3) Hwanggeumbitjijung
