Korea Race Comments – Friday January 30, 2015

Busan Race 4: Domestic Class 5 /1300M / Weight for Age / KRW 27 Million / 12:25 (SIN)

(7) GRACE WINNER makes just his third start and with Jo Sung Gon taking over in the saddle, he can build on two solid races today. (6) HANGYE JILJU was a disappointing 5th of 8 at the beginning of the month when better was expected. He will have a lot of support here again and can go much better. (2) WONIL CHAMP matched his career best finish of 3rd last time and will be fancied to improve on that. Debut-maker (4) PURPLE OCEAN was 2nd in her race trial a month ago and can be considered.

Selections: (6) Hangye Jilju (7) Grace Winner (2) Wonil Champ (4) Purple Ocean

Busan Race 5: Domestic Class 4 / 1200M /Allowance / KRW 40.6 Million / 13:15 (SIN)

(5) MACHEON BOLT was a 12-length winner on January 2nd over this distance and while he is up in class today, he will be strongly fancied once again. (8) GRAGEO had to work a little harder when winning on his debut on Boxing Day but he too has claims. Among the more experienced ones, (1) YEONGGWANGUICHUBOK keeps going close at this level and can do so again while (7) GANGJA DAERO comes in after two consecutive 4th places which he can match or better here. (2) TRENDSETTER and (4) WIND CITY also merit consideration for a place.

Selections: (5) Macheon Bolt (8) Grageo (1) Yeonggwanguichubok (7) Gangja Daero

Busan Race 6: Domestic Class 4 / 1500M / Allowance / KRW 40.6 Million / 14:05 (SIN)

(2) YEONGUNG BOLT could only manage 3rd when sent off as odds-on favourite last time out, He finished strongly that day though and should enjoy the step up in distance here. (4) JIBONG SARANG has also shown plenty of promise in her four starts to date and although she was well beaten by a good winner last time, she could be the favourite here. (3) TAMNA HAENGUN has shown improvement in three starts at this class so far and should be looking to match or better his 3rd place on January 2nd. There are a couple up in class following maiden victories on their last start. (5) SUNDAY STAR was a solid 3-length winner over 1400M while (6) HELLO CHAMP did similar at 1300M and neither are without hope again. (7) DONGNAM CHEONHA can also be considered.

Selections: (2) Yeongung Bolt (4) Jibong Sarang (3) Tamna Haengun (5) Sunday Star

Busan Race 7: Foreign Class 3 / 1400M / Allowance / KRW 57.5 Million / 14:55 (SIN)

A nice big field for this one which sees Peter Wolsley’s (6) LUCKY GANGJA look for a third consecutive victory. He’s won from the front very comfortably both times and has every chance of doing so again. The main danger should be (9) LION METAL, who has finished 3rd on each of his three starts so far. Most recently he was beaten a length behind (10) VIVA BLACK over a mile but back at 1400M, he can overturn that form today. (1) CHOEGANG PLUS is up in class and distance after a fine 6-length win a month ago and needs respect while (5) YES INDEED hasn’t impressed when asked to go further than 1000M but will benefit from the services of Choi Si Dae in the saddle. (4) BEST MYEONGUN and (2) YEONGUNG CHEONHA came home in 2nd and 3rd behind a good winner on January 2nd and should be competing for places again.

Selections: (6) Lucky Gangja (9) Lion Metal (1) Choegang Plus (4) Best Myeongun

Busan Race 8: Domestic Class 3 / 1200M / Allowance / KRW 57.5 Million / 15:45 (SIN)

(11) MAC AND CHEESE was a very comfortable winner at class and distance on January 2nd and is strongly favoured to repeat today. Others do have claims though and (9) NAMDOUI YEOWANG steps up in class after a 4-length front-running win in a brisk time at this distance a month ago and should go well again while (5) WIN SIGN returns to the track after three months away. He’s had a start-stop career to date but on his day, he is talented. (10) DAMYANG JEONSEOL was a surprise winner over this class last time out and therefore needs to be respected while (3) CLIMBING and (8) B.K. KING can’t be ruled out of places.

Selections: (11) Mac And Cheese (9) Namdoui Yeowang (5) Win Sign (3) Climbing

Busan Race 9: Domestic Class 3 / 1600M / Allowance / KRW 57.5 Million / 16:10 (SIN)

(7) CHAMP LINE looks quite the talent and comes in after a 15-length win over 1400M on Boxing Day. It’s his first try at a mile and he’s up in class but he should be more than capable of overcoming that. (5) NAMHAE SINHWA is also up in class after two consecutive victories and can run the favourite close while (9) SINHEUNG MENIFEE has consecutive 3rd places at this class and should be aiming to match that today. (3) CHEONJI GEOTAP and (4) LUCKY TODAY have also proved themselves capable of money finishes at this level.

Selections: (7) Champ Line (5) Namhae Sinhwa (9) Sinheung Menifee (3) Cheonji Geotap

Busan Race 10: Domestic Class 2 / 2000M / Handicap / KRW 75.5 Million / 16:35 (SIN)

(7) GOLIATH MARINE carries equal top-weight in this handicap following a very narrow victory over (1) JUNGANG HAEJU at this class and distance on January 2nd. They may be difficult to split again today. (2) CLEAN GANGJA and (5) ROYAL IMPACT finished 4th and 5th respectively in that race and should be battling for places again while (10) CHOEGANG BYEONGGI was 2nd to Cinderella Man at this distance last time out and should be considered.

A return to the money for the talented but inconsistent (11) NAMDO TRIO can’t be ruled out.

Selections: (7) Goliath Marine (1) Jungang Haeju (10) Choegang Byeonggi (5) Royal Impact

Busan Race 11: Domestic Class 1 / 1600M / Handicap / KRW 95 Million / 17:00 (SIN)

(5) HANGANGUI GIJEOK got his ninth win from twelve career starts with a dominant performance over this distance on December 19 and is going to be very hard to beat here. The obvious rival is (6) GHOST WHISPER who struggled in the Grand Prix Stakes at Seoul over 2300M last month but will be far more comfortable today. Those two are giving at least 6kg to the rest of the field in the handicap and of the others, (10) GRAND TEUKGEUP looks best-placed to take advantage. She comes in after two very solid performances and can at least place. (7) HWANGGEUMBITJIJUNGHAE was an encouraging 4th on her first try at class 1 earlier this month and there looks to be more to come from her. (1) SPORTY steps up in class after closing like an express train to win over 1400M on January 4th and could offer some value as a big outsider while (8) SMILE AGAIN and (11) MYEONGUN JEWANG are reliable campaigners who can challenge for a place.

Selections: (5) Hangangui Gijeok (6) Ghost Whisper (10) Grand Teukgeup (11) Myeongun Jewang
