(4) SMALL FIGHTER enters after two consecutive 3rd places, one of which was over this distance and he can score here. (3) BURNING CHAMP has never finished better than 3rd in thirteen career starts but will never get a better chance than today while (7) DAEJIUI JILJU puts herself into contention following a 2nd place behind Machu Picchu a month ago. (8) YEOREOBUNUI SESANG usually goes close and should do so again, while (5) HAVE TO RUN can’t be ruled out. (6) PICO ENGINE led from gate to wire and was a seven-length winner at class and distance on December 14 and has solid claims for a repeat here. (2) ART STAR tried to do similar, leading all the way before fading into 3rd in the final furlong at class and distance on December 19 but can be given another chance today. (3) TAKE ALL was also found wanting when in a good position in the same race, finishing 4th. (1) GANGHAN BARAM was a decent 3rd last time out and can repeat.

US import (7) AXION was a nine-length winner on his debut over five-furlongs four weeks ago and is heavily favoured to keep his 100% record intact today. (8) QUEEN’S MYEONGUN was an encouraging 3rd at long-odds on her only start to date all the way back in September and could be interesting. (9) TAEYANGUI CHUBOK races every two weeks but can at least match a 4th place landed over this distance in a reasonable time while there is scope for improvement from (5) LADY FRESCA and (4) HWANHUI

Selections: (7) Axion (8) Queen’s Myeongun (4) Hwanhui (5) Lady Fresca

Busan Race 7: Domestic Class 4 / 1200M / Allowance / KRW 40.6 Million / 14:55 (SIN)

(1) DAEPUNGNYEON was a fifteen-length winner, finishing a full two seconds ahead of the field on his second start three weeks ago over 1000M and should make it two out of two here. Also up in class is (2) HAENGUN SINHWA following his maiden win back in November and he should be the main danger. (4) HERCULES has had over two months off since a disappointing 5th of nine behind Morning Hwiparam at the end of October while (5) PERFECT LADY can’t be ruled out of a place and (3) OH STAR can improve on consecutive 5th place finishes. (6) MUGONG HUNJANG is also one who showed improvement last start.

Selections: (1) Daepungnyeon (2) Haengun Sinhwa (4) Hercules (5) Perfect Lady

Busan Race 8: Domestic Class 3 / 1400M / Allowance / KRW 57.5 Million / 15:45 (SIN)

(5) FURIOUS PARK comes in after consecutive wins at decent odds, most recently at this class in November. He’s come from just off the pace both times and has claims here. (8) GANGJAUI JILJU was 2nd at class and distance last time and should be looking to at least match it today. (1) SINSEGYE PARTY is up in class following two 2nd place finishes and is not without a chance of matching those here. (4) NOBEL SINHWA was 4th behind good horses three weeks ago while (3) BAEDARI ACE merits consideration for a place.

Busan Race 9: Domestic Class 3 / 1200M / Allowance / KRW 57.5 Million / 16:10 (SIN)

(10) MY STYLE should be improving on back-to-back 5ths and has claims to get back to winning ways on dropping back to 1200M here. Also with claims is (4) THE KEY who has a 2nd and a 4th in two class 3 starts following a maiden win over this distance last October. (5) ONE MONT is up in class following a good victory at this distance a month ago and must be respected while (2) OVER SPEED frequently disappoints at short odds but is still likely to have backers today. (6) CHEONGCHUN CONCERT needed the run after a long layoff last time and should show considerable improvement today while (8) LONG STRIDE was a much improved 4th a month ago and showed she can compete at this level.

Selections: (4) The Key (10) My Style (5) One Mont (2) Over Speed

Busan Race 10: Domestic Class 2 / 1800M / Handicap / KRW 75.5 Million / 16:35 (SIN)

A competitive handicap sees (12) RAFALE open his three-year-old season by stepping up to the Derby distance of 1800M for the first time. He won three of his five starts as a juvenile and was 2nd in the Breeders’ Cup race at Seoul in November, the winner of which made a very impressive start to the year last week. This is a competitive handicap though. Joint top-weights are (6) BADA GANGJA and (10) SEGYE CHOEGO with the former having won at class and distance last time out. (2) TARGET HIT can look to match 2nd and 3rd place finishes from his most recent two starts while (1) GIHOE MANJEOM may not have a win in him at this class but is very capable of going close. (7) RISING PARK can go closer than her 5th last time while (13) KEUNNOM can’t be ruled out of a place.

Selections: (12) Rafale (6) Bada Gangja (10) Segye Choego (1) Gihoe Manjeom

Busan Race 11: Domestic Class 1 / 1600M / Handicap / KRW 95 Million / 17:00 (SIN)

(3) SUCCESS STORY had a hard time in both the Minister’s and President’s Cups at Seoul in the autumn but returned to Busan in December and dropping back in distance, ran out a seventeen-length winner over 1400M. Well handicapped today, he has a lot of potential and a mile should be ideal. At the other end of the handicap, top weight is (13) ROAD TO PRINCE, a very reliable campaigner who should be in the money again. (4) CHALLANHAN USEUNG was a very good 2nd three weeks ago over 1900M and must be considered. (7) MY WINNER was disappointing last time but can bounce back today even though trainer Peter Wolsley has released his stable jockey Jo Sung Gon to ride Success Story. (10) STING RAY, winner of the KRA Cup Mile in 2013, comes in after two good runs and can place while (8) ALL SU can also be considered to place.

Selections: (3) Success Story (13) Road To Prince (7) My Winner (10) Sting Ray
