Busan Race 4: Domestic Class 5 /1400M / Weight for Age / KRW 27 Million/ 12:25 (SIN)

(5) SUNDAY STAR has finished 4th on both her starts to date and can score here. Last time out, she beat (4) FOUR STAR by a commanding margin although the latter can improve today. (7) BLUE WATER was 3rd over class and distance three weeks ago and should be looking to at least match that. (8) WORLD STAR has shown potential for good late seed and may benefit from stepping up in distance while the debut-maker (2) DOUBLE WINGS was 2nd in her race trial.

Selections: (5) Sunday Star (4) Four Star (7) Blue Water (8) World Star

Busan Race 5: Foreign Class 4 / 1300M /Weight for Age / KRW 40.6 Million / 13:15 (SIN)

Five of the runners who go here raced each other at class and distance on December 12. It was (2) LUCKY GANGJA who took the win that day with a front-running performance and he is strongly favoured to repeat today. (7) NAMDO PYEONGJANG was 4th in that race, a full ten-lengths back and should be aiming for better as should (1) THE PROPHET, who came 5th. (4) SMART BROWN wasn’t one of those he beat and the experienced gelding drops back in distance after a career-best 3rd over 1600M last time and should be looking to at least match that. (5) BRAVO CAPTAIN also steps back in distance and should be considered for a place while (8) AFLEET CORREDOR can be forgiven an indifferent debut in that race behind Lucky Gangja and given another chance today.

Selections: (2) Lucky Gangja (4) Smart Brown (8) Afleet Corredor (7) Namdo Pyeongjang

Busan Race 6: Domestic Class 4 / 1300M / Allowance / KRW 40.6 Million / 14:05 (SIN)

(6) KKEUTPANNYEOWANG has had four starts at this class since a debut victory last summer and returns after just over two months off looking ready to win. Similarly, (8) SUPER STORM comes in after two consecutive 4ths and has claims. (1) JINGGEOMDARI is up in class following a visually impressive eight-length win a month ago and can compete again. (4) JIBONG STAR was overcome in the final furlong over 1200M last month but stayed on for 2nd place, a finish she can match, while improvement from (5) SUPER WISH can’t be ruled out after a difficult first try at this class at the end of November.

Selections: (6) Kkeutpanyeowang (1) Jinggeomdari (8) Super Storm (4) Jibong Star

Busan Race 7: Domestic Class 4 / 1400M / Allowance / KRW 40.6 Million / 14:55 (SIN)

(3) GOLD LINE was a well-beaten 3rd over 1500M last month on what was his first attempt at this class but he can better that today. Both (1) MUJEOK CHEONHA and (2) IRON MARINE are yet to win but both are up in class having gone close and both should have the speed to compete here. (5) NOLBEUN BEOL needs to be forgiven a disappointing run three weeks ago but certainly has a win in her at this class. (6) YEONGGWANGUICHUBOK is yet to win from ten career starts but enters here after consecutive 3rd place finishes and will have plenty of supporters to match them today.

Selections: (3) Gold Line (1) Mujeok Cheonha (5) Nolbeun Beol (2) Iron Marine

Busan Race 8: Domestic Class 4 / 1600M / Allowance / KRW 40.6 Million / 15:45 (SIN)

This is a small but competitive field in which most have claims of some kind. (5) SINCHEON YEOMANG was a well beaten 4th on his first try at this class three weeks ago and can go better here on his first try at a mile. Similarly, (2) GRACE was 5th of 12 after stepping up in class and again should be better today. (3) SAMRAMANSANG was a creditable 2nd over 1500M last time out, two places and two lengths ahead of (1) CORDELIA and both will have supporters while (7) SWEET GOLD has never won in fifteen career starts but may grab a minor place.

Selections: (5) Sincheon Yeomang (2) Grace (1) Cordelia (7) Sweet Gold

Busan Race 9: Domestic Class 3 / 1800M / Allowance / KRW 57.5 Million / 16:10 (SIN)

(6) GANGNAM CAMP is tried around two-turns for the first time after three disappointing reversals, each of which he was sent off at odds-on for. Trainer Kim Young Kwan puts his apprentice jockey on board today but he should still be well backed and can get back to winning form. It won’t be easy though. (2) USEUNGIJI is a proven winner at this distance and steps up in class today while (1) FINE STAR looks to have plenty of potential and comes in here following a decent win over 1400M beating among others (8) JUNGANG CHOEGANG. Both are up in class today. Of those with experience at this level, (4) RISING CAPTAIN is a winner at this distance and must be respected while (5) MORNING HWIPARAM will have supporters to improve on his 4th place over this distance a month ago.

Selections: (6) Gangnam Camp (2) Useungiji (1) Fine Star (4) Rising Captain

Busan Race 10: Foreign Class 3 / 1600M / Allowance / KRW 57.5 Million / 16:35 (SIN)

Despite this being class 3, only three of the nine runners have a win to their name and we could be seeing a maiden win here for (5) LION METAL. He was beaten a length and a half last time by Lucky Gangja – who runs in race 5 today – and shouldn’t fear this field. (9) KENTUKEY YEONGUNG will win no awards for spelling but came close to getting his first win last time and may appreciate the extra furlong today, while (6) VIVA ENCOSTA holds a 2nd place at class and distance and should be respected. (7) MYEONGUN JILJU was disappointing on his first try at this class but improvement can’t be ruled out while (3) OCALA CAPTAIN is up in class following a 2nd place over 1500M just two weeks ago.

Selections: (5) Lion Metal (9) Kentukey Yeongung (7) Myeongun Jilju (3) Ocala Captain

Busan Race 11: Foreign Class 2 / 1900M / Handicap / KRW 75.5 Million / 17:00 (SIN)

Seven of the eleven who run here raced each other over 1800M on December 14 so be sure to check out that race as the favourite for this is likely to come from it. After three consecutive 2nd place finishes at this class, it is about time that (4) SPEED MADE went one better. He can do that here although in (8) CHUKJE MELODY, he faces the horse who beat him last time by a comfortable 4-lengths. Speed Made was finishing the quicker that day and the extra half-furlong and the equal weights should be in his favour today. (10) TOP SPRING was 4th in that December 14 race, his third consecutive 4th place finish at this class, with (7) USEUNG CHANCE and (2) MEANESTBOYINTOWN in close attendance. (6) PROFESSOR SILVER didn’t run in that race and was 4th on his first try at class 2 over a mile two weeks ago. Choi Si Dae doesn’t often ride for Peter Wolsley and it is an interesting booking. The up in class (1) LADY PUNCH may also be considered for a place although she is yet to win from fourteen career starts.

Selections: (4) Speed Made (6) Professor Silver (8) Chukje Melody (2) Meanestboyintown
