PEOPLE’S ASSOCIATION - Chingay 2013

Started in 1973 with only Chinese elements, the annual Chingay Parade has evolved to be the grandest street and floats parade in Asia, showcasing the rich, vibrant multi-culturalism of Singapore and exciting cultures all over the world. The theme for this year’s parade is “Fire in Snow”, symbolising resilience and bravery in the face of challenges of hardships.

NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION (NKF) - Charity Movie Screening 2013 “Ah Boys to Men – Part 2”

The Charity Movie Screening was held to raise funds to aid needy patients under the care of the NKF. Held at GV Grand, Great World City, the charity screening raised over $37,500, which will enable the NKF to provide about 1,250 artificial kidneys to their kidney patients.

The four day event, held at Esplanade Theatre, attracted a total of 5,800 of which 500 were students from neighbourhood schools and schools which offer the music elective programmes. The opening night alone saw 151 guests including donors turning up. A total of $93,900 was raised which will help defray part of the costs of SLO’s upcoming productions and projects.
